I like Sumeragi better as villains. Eden are better as characters. They're more interesting, more likable, and you get a lot more interaction with them. Eden have actual group interplay, whereas Sumeragi felt like a bunch of individuals, just bosses you kill at the end of the stage. You're introduced to Tenjian, Zonda, and Teseo from the get-go, for instance, whereas you need to wait until near the end of the game before GV and Nova have a conversation in GV1.

I think all of them are. The only reason you feel bad for Elise is because she's hot. The only reason you feel bad for Merak and Zonda are because they're preteens. If they weren't hot/cute or primary schoolers, then you'd be gungho for destroying them.
