I don't like the state of it AND its rotting.
Some studios have good profits, I wont lie. But the industry overall is on the decline. Customer spend has flattened. VC is pulling out. The bubble of covid popped and we're still seeing the ripple of it. Some metrics/spend are at below pre-covid levels. Reverting back to 2017-2019 eras. On top of this, there's a prediction that the US/Western economy is going to get absolutely destroyed in 2026. So this is causing a pull back from investors even more. Lay offs are at an all time high, cancellations are at an all time high. Not lookin good. On top of that, purchasing on things like books, video, and music have NOT had the same pull back as video games. Indicating even more its industry specific.
Hoping pic doesn't get pixelated out the ass, didn't feel like posting 4 pictures. But there have been studies/data analysis done that shows things aren't looking good. Hence the record setting layoffs/cancels.
If these upcoming AAA games continue to fail, its going to be a rough time for the industry 2026+
