I would rather Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft and Valve be classified as monopolies under antitrust law and be subject to audits and regulation requiring them to act neutral and in the interests of a free market platform. Essentially what people are demanding of payment processors.

By who? They're the ones doing the spanking, they control their platforms with an iron fist, and A/AA publishers like Compile Heart and qureate have little choice but to obey because there are no viable alternatives with even half the install base. Digital markets always trend toward centralization because of the network effect and as long as the platforms that get de facto monopoly power through that process are allowed to engage in actions like this, it will not change.
