And she does it by abandoning her friends, ironically enough. The motivation doesn't even make sense either. At least Pinkie Pie and Applejack had understandable, even somewhat well-intentioned reasons for turning against their elements(Pinkie being convinced everyone secretly hated her, Applejack being convinced that lying was the only way to save her friendships), but with Rainbow, it was "Hey, do you want to stay here and help your friends stop me, or do you want to ditch them to go save the pegasus city?", even though the reason Cloudsdale is in danger in the first place is because of Discord... meaning that the best way to save Cloudsdale is by staying and helping her friends beat Discord. It completely falls apart if you think about it for more than 5 seconds. If Discord is free, then he can just continue fucking with Cloudsdale even if she deals with whatever the issue is, so stopping him just IS the easiest way to save Cloudsdale. So there is literally no reason for Dash to ditch her friends and the mission to go help Cloudsdale in the scenario Discord gave her. The most favorable interpretation that can be had of Dash here is that she is short-sighted to the point of borderline retardation. Alternatively, she just really isn't as loyal to her friends as people like to give her credit for. Pick your poison.
