Why does he need to rescue? This isn't a discussion of Marcus's utility or goodness versus Florina - we know he's good and can do many things. It's a question of whether he meaningfully benefits from a robe. You don't need to mathematically, you can use some common sense.
Marcus has 8 base luck/30 growth, he's not very likely to get crit during his prime because an enemy needs 18 Skill to display 1% on him or a weapon with crit on it, both of which are highly unusual to say the least. And you can just avoid high crit rates, it isn't some great ask.
You can also just...you know, heal any damage he does take with a staff.
I feel like anyone would balk at the notion of robing Seth, but it's virtually as silly to robe Marcus. He is an incredibly potent, naturally durable unit for most of the game, and you notice functionally no benefit from robing him. I think everyone can understand the idea of making "the good better," it's just that Marcus is not that unit ffs - the effect has to be *felt*. I'd robe Erk before Marcus.
