Probability is pseudoscience. The chance of something happening is fractional in proportion to the number of possible outcomes, ergo two possible outcomes each have 50% chance of occurring, 3 would have 33.3% each and so on. Therefore the chance of finding a silver ball would be 50%, as it is one of two possible outcomes.

None of you understand what's happening. This is an ambassador ship from the Galactic Coalition who are comprised of several different otherworldly races. They want to broker a relationship with humans, among a small number of other species. However, they are aware of the presence of a malignant species with a powerful influence over humanity, and are uncertain if they can realistically debride them of it. Failing this, humans will be relegated to animal or "near-sentient" status, and deemed ineligible for representation on the Galactic Council. At that point we will have to rely on trees, octopuses, bumblebees or mycellium for any planetary representation. The malignant species and its allies/subjects will face extermination when they inevitably transgress against the Coalition, which many fear will snowball into the death of all of humanity.
