I'm completely neutral on Palworld and a Nintendo fan.
But I'm not blind. This situation just makes Nintendo look pathetic and insecure. They clearly see Palworld as a threat and have so little faith in their own ability (despite Pokemon being one of the biggest brands in the world) that they try to game the patent system to kill it.
People already didn't like Konami patenting loading screen minigames and WB patenting the Nemesis system. Who in their right mind would be ok with Nintendo patenting basic concepts? Even people who only play Nintendo games wouldn't be directly affected by it.
