fire (actually just DoT damage in general) does work if you are the client. Sometimes. It will work when there aren't very many entities active, but if there are a lot, like say in the middle of a bug breach, it stops working. Likely because when they fixed the multiplicative status effect bug they did so by disabling client calculations and now when there are too many entities the back end can't host only calculations keep up so it stops working.
Webm related: two clips from the same mission with all the same players. the pouncers as part of a patrol without a breach going on die to gas DoT, but the ones that came out of the middle of a bug breach later on are seemingly immune to Gas DoT.
