Why do stock prices have anything at all to do with a company?
Example: let's say $AAPL vs. "Apple Coin" (random shicoin I just made up). People understand that Apple Coin has literally nothing to do with the stock price, and people only buy it cuz it go uppp.
Why is the stock any different than that? Let's say Apple has bad earnings for a month. How does that *actually* harm shareholders in any way? It's like there's an agreed upon game that doesn't have to be followed where investors just buy if the company does well and sell if they don't. They don't *actually* have to do that.
Make it make sense.
