What the prettyboy defenders like to ignore about Snowbreak was that Ling Yi was a complete asshole and counter-productive to the story.
They even legit turned Ling Yi into a girl in year 2 and brought him/her back, and the character was so negatively received (despite being a girl) that the devs pretend it never happened and the wiki doesn't even list the character as existing, despite official stickers implying she was going to become playable.
Snowbreak fans don't have a problem with men existing, it's that nobody wants some full-of-themselves character around flirting with their girls.
