I've often wondered about Sanae's eyes, ZUN first drew them as yellow, then he drew them as green, and although he's never drawn them blue himself they are canonically blue as well (see pic related, it's from WaHH chapter 39, and if ZUN didn't want them to be blue he would've asked them to be changed to green)

I wondered if her eyes just changed colour on their own or she could change them herself depending on her mood, but I thought of another possibility: maybe her eyes are all three colours at once, and the colour you see personally depends on your relationship with her

Yellow is intimidating, so you only see her eyes this colour if she's your enemy: she was undoubtedly Reimu and Marisa's enemy, where her eyes were yellow (they were yellow in SA too but that's because ZUN reused the same portrait)

Blue is warm (not literally), inviting and familiar, so you only see her eyes this if you're very close friends or family, like Kanako or Suwako

Green is more neutral, so you see this colour if you're anywhere in between, which is most people

And finally, maybe her eyes are actually yellow, green and blue at the same time, and maybe not just those three, either, but every single colour of the rainbow, and there's only two people in existence who can see her eyes like this: herself, when she looks in the mirror; and the person she loves more than anything else in the world
