I think you intentionally did not quote the part of my post that addresses it. The very beginning is linear but the game quickly opens up to allow you to choose several different areas. Most Metroidvanias, even Rabi-Ribi which I consider to be the most non-linear, is like this. You gain abilities that allow you to reach other areas, or at least parts of other areas, only as you play the game.

I specified exploration not linearity on purpose. Otherwise, as I said in my prior post, you do not substantiate your issues with the charms to the point that there's even an argument to be had. It's just a bare assertion.
