I think you misunderstood my post, anon. I said the options the player has for constructing their character in Fallout 3 are bad. I didn't comment on story at all.

And yeah the character building options in New Vegas are way better.

What the hell, man. I knew their reflex save was their highest but that payoff seemed worth it for getting a trip in. What's the point of including that sort of vulnerability if the attacker has to crit anyway?

Well I guess it wound up not mattering but I continue to be baffled by every other design decision in this system.
