this. i remember back in the mid/late 90s when you needed a computer to get on the internet, owned and run by someone that needed a more-than-basic understanding, on a dial-up modem that needed some skill to use (different numbers, settings) and every search result and webpage was hand made by someone that had intermediate training. playing Doom2 then searching the net for level maps and cheat codes.... the fucking comfiest of days man.

imagine if it stayed in those hands with the tech now, we'd be gods on earth, and it wouldn't be the borderline useless cess pit of curated vomit that it is now. a real tragedy.
