This idea of continuity was beautifully represented in the best ending of FFV. It is no coincidence that the heroes end their journey at the Guardian Tree: Krile visited the tree on the anniversary of Galuf's death and laid flowers at its roots to honor him. This becomes a symbol of the end of their current journey and the beginning of a new one.
