The entire game of FFX moves from left to the right. There is no other direction in the game other than "move to the right". It's entirely 1D. It could be said that FFX isn't an RPG.
You don't for example buy weapons in a shop or an antidote to prevent poison that kills when you walk (since you don't "walk", you move to the right). There is no overworld. By comparison, Pokemon is more of an RPG as there's an overworld and dungeons.
