The fact nobody can forget about Gantz is a testament to how strong its highs are, it's super creative with a simple and effective setting/plot device, the tech looks cool, it makes all its weirdness seem so realistic.
It's choke full of holes, the plot armor is too thick, little foresight on how to arrange story beats within a whole, characters going nowhere on repeat, fake tension unraveling and endless crying. The painter is completely cornered.
