well, no, i think the spirit is eternal after the flesh dies.. but the flesh stores our mind, and the mind is basically the middleman between accessing the spirit and accessing the flesh. the flesh is keeping my mind alive, and i only access my spirit through thoughts and feelings that are happening to my physical form
the way i see it, denying the flesh strengthens the spirit and vice versa. when you fast and meditate, it's basically starving your body of the things it wants: junk food, dopamine, etc. when your body is uncomfortable it fights back and annoys you with hunger, pain, cravings, etc. but eventually if you overpower it mentally and cause it to submit, it will calm down and you won't feel hunger. after 5 days of fasting your stomach shuts down and then you don't get hungry anymore. and its in this state that the spirit is more.. i don't know, close to the surface? you are filled with creativity, energy, it makes you want to be better, treat others better, it puts you in a better mood, etc. conversely, if i jerk off and eat junk food all day (which is what the flesh wants), i end up feeling empty. it's all pretty new to me but it's been pretty cool to experience. before i believed in flat earth i never thought very hard about "what am i".
one amazing thing that i've learned recently is that the human body GENERATES electricity. might be obvious to some, but it was cool to me. i mean, the way our brains work is just neurons being activated with electricity right? it turns neurons on and off.. and then we have everything we experience. so how do we GET electricity in our body? there's 6 different ways actually, one of the major ones is your muscles. did you know when you exert your muscles it actually gives off measurable, provably voltage? and this is used by your body and brain to function. they are LITERALLY rechargeable batteries that you recharge with protein, fat, etc (food energy). what an amazing and cool and SMART design
