A lot of anons are overthinking this series. Sasuga!

Author wanted to make a story about OP protagonist doing OP protaganist things. That's the main point of the story, everything else stems from this.

He also wanted to avoid writing a more typical isekai story as much as possible, make a more sandbox-like story if you will, but he just keeps throwing around ideas without properly developing any of them or just keeps abandoning them half-way through.
That's the main problem of Overlord.

Manga is ok, last time i heard about it it's got an artist change and it's still behind anime.

Same common criticisms you see parroted in this thread apply to manga as well - strong melancholic opening with MC longing for the good times he had with his MMO friends, nice setup for a powerfantasy story and then it's all goes nowhere.

I wish story was better because i really like these characters and their designs.
