HELLDIVERS 2 is a 2024 crossplay, co-op, squad-based, PvE 3rd person shooter for PC, PS5 and XBox Series X/S where players fight against hordes of alien insects, robots and squids to Spread Democracy™. Players wage war on contested planets, each with a different biome, completing as many objectives as possible in a procedurally generated level while constrained by a time limit. With enough successful missions, a planet can be defended or liberated, and the player base must combine their efforts as much as possible to Liberate™ the galaxy.

Turn all ARs into battle rifles, essentially Judy clones (Pacifier and Coyote already are that anyway). No carbine-tier fire rate, no massive ammo reserve, no mag extensions.
From there, let the expandable cqc bullet hose role rest solely with SMGs.
This - taking similar functionality away from a similar category of guns - is the only applicable solution that wouldn't fuck this game to hell. No this would not please anyone at all. But there is no other way either. Unless you support the crazy notion of turning all SMGs into secondary weapons, a move that would fuck things in ways I can't even pretend to predict. Do me a favor anon if you ever make a shooting game and want to add guns to it PLAN AHEAD. DO NOT be the Swede.
