Hey /g/,
My brother wants me to install Arch for him. He’s got an HP EliteBook x360 1030 G2, which should be simple enough except it turns out he has Secure Boot enabled and doesn’t know the BIOS password.
So, there are basically two ways I could get Arch installed:
1. Remove the CMOS battery (I tried explaining this to him in detail, but he doesn’t trust the process).
2. Piggyback a Debian ISO and grab the Microsoft-signed shim that way. (I’ve never done this before, but it sounds fun to learn.)
Not sure what to do yet. I might just tell him it can’t be done with basedboot in place and install Debian instead. He’s only doing this because Windows 10 keeps yelling that his PC can’t upgrade to 11.
