i did too even though i knew it was sealing her fate. keeping it lets it stay in your inventory but i really don't care, the entire ending of the quest made me salty as fuck toward the abyss twin enough as it is, and i found out that if you keep the key then the abyss twin just gives their key to her instead as a big fuck you to the traveler for trying to change fate.
