Not very /tpg/ of me, but this has always been the laptop general anyway, so.
I'm looking for what's basically a mobile thin client:
* lightweight
* small (<13")
* good build quality, screen and thermals
* decent repairability: Battery, display and keyboard should have available parts of decent quality. Basically, if there's not a repair culture around it, I don't want to jump in. As an aside: Funnily enough, for how much Apple devices get repairability complaints, there sure are a lot of people who can fix them.
* I don't mind mediocre compute specs; it has to run Chromium without issue, though. This isn't for gaming.
* not over $500; preferably, much under that...
I want to put Linux on it, of course. I'm not averse to the idea of detachable keyboard tablets, and it's what I've been having in mind. Please, help me widen my horizons and consider other options.
I'm mainly looking at the M1 Air, X12 Detachable and Surface series. Heretic choices, I know. Unless people are still putting HiDPI displays on X230's or some shit. I don't know bros, help me out here.

Hyper-upgradable laptops are *dead*. Unless, you know, you look at extreme modding, like this

Or (forgive me) MNT shit.
p.s. The T480 is flimsy garbage and nobody should pick it over the T480s.
