Offtopic-ish but the Varmint Rifle is literally just the Savage 93FV. Like damn near exactly, just without the hole in the stock. The polymer version is maybe a hair more Rat Slayer though.

Well, there pretty much ain't shit on the 22WMR version. No one owns one or no one cares enough to post about it. I've seen one or two (?) reports of a large POI shift when attaching a silencer which both claim to be non-concentric threading (or non-concentric bore) related. One said IIRC Howa said the rifle was fine after sending it back (should've bought a cheap concentricity rod to confirm!) and the other (may be the same guy, didn't look close) claimed similar POI shift, like 15" low 2" left, which is funny as that sounds exceedingly similar to the time I got a 10/22 with an iron sight that hung over the flat behind the threads almost to a T. No baffle strike, shit not even a baffle skim visible, but so damn close it must interfere. In my case I removed the front sight, then later sanded down a front sight and paint markered the front so it had a gap like it should and it wasn't ugly silver. Totally fixed it and that silencer is still going strong today. I think I've seen maybe 3-5 videos and posts about the .17 version. Pretty much nothing on the 22WMR version, and tons of rimfirecentral posts where the dickhead OP doesn't mention the caliber (or simply says "22"). The forend can interfere with the barrel as it isn't the stiffest. Seems to be a recent rifle which is strange as it's always seemed to be rather affordable every time I looked at it, not "new model" pricing. I've seen posts from 2020 and 2022 with reported serial numbers on received rifles hovering around 50...which is nuts. Boyd's was going to make a stock for it, then decided against it (!), and there really isn't much more to say. Fuck. Maybe I'll just go for a cheap Savage instead of going for "the interesting gun". The 93FV absolutely looks like fucking Ratslayer from New Vegas with that 10rd mag though holy shit lol. I can't unsee it.
