Where the fuck does IDW Sonic fit on the timeline?

Is she aware the comics are NOT self-contained?

So Sonic and friends just randomly ignored all the ongoing events in the comic and went on a huge adventure then never talked about it again.

Does Evan not realize the comics are not self contained so shoving a random adventure in there somewhere just creates confusion in the timeline?
