I didn't play the story, i just did all the floating islands and shrine puzzles and stopped playing when i ran out since that's the only fun part of the game.

Gotta be honest, always hated the dungeons and preferred exploring the overworld. I do like the puzzles however. I think that there's probably a lot of other people with the same thoughts, thus explaining why BotW sold so well.
I think i may be the only person on /v/ who absolutely hates what Nintendo's become, but likes TotK.

Yeah, i was in the same boat as you and enjoyed it well enough.
I personally prefer ToTK since i enjoy physics puzzles, it has better dungeons and such. But the fact that you have to fuse all your weapons with items to get anything decent is annoying. At first it's neat since you feel like you have so many options, but it quickly wears down when you realize its limits, and often you will return to tarrey town to decouple rare monster horns and gemstones from your damaged weapons.
