It's a cliche saying but still rings true non the less. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Honestly I'd argue everything started going horribly wrong when the Federal Reserve was created and for a short period of time prior to the FED ownership of gold was outlawed, granted at the time that law wasn't really enforceable unless you were an absolute idiot who can't keep their mouth shut but still.

Hopefully future generations will learn to value freedom an self reliance as well as honor rather fan bureaucratic beasts to facilitate order an trust beats again once all the selfish Boomers and apathetic Millennials go extinct.
