Kojima is batshit insane and intentionally uses the realism contrast against the weirdness, plus he may as well be working overtime to have his team pioneer the motion/facial capture efforts in ways that the rest of the industry is struggling to recreate. Meanwhile Nomura uses the aloofness of 3D scans to create a sort of fantasy vibe to it; it isn't quite a real person, but isn't quite fully fictionalized, so you basically have the exaggeration you mention exploited to produce its own distinct look built on top of the same pipelines and animation systems that have been evolved since the Kingdom Hearts / Dissidia / FFX days.
Meanwhile Yakuza goes for a weird thing where the early games were exaggerated due to limitations, but as they went along, now with higher quality facial capture and a known effort for getting real face scans, they're basically planting fucking Samoa Joe or various real JP TV stars in their stuff like a dream casting couch, and making them and their characters look realistic as fuck - but putting them in weird ass games where they just don't fit and aren't designed or tweaked or fantasized at all beyond the character role design to work with the insanity of the RGG series. This is especially bad so far with Kiwami 3 because they "rerigged" the new casting choices.. for PS3 animation cutscenes from 2009, where they're still clearly using the old animations not made for the new scans, so everything gets retarded and these 2025 character models are slapped on top of ancient animation rigs.
This entire mess is a disaster of poor juxtaposition, misallocation of budget, and horrible development priorities. But that's the Kiwamis in general for you, they're all fucking terrible.
