I think this validated many of the bullshit Pokemon claims, because if this bizarre series of actions gave you a hundred rare candies or Master Balls or showed you Safari Zone mon then why wouldn't there be something behind Bill's house or under that truck? It seemed like an intentional cheat code of some sort, since we didn't understand back then it was just a series of inputs manipulating the game's very shakily held together code.

My trick is, I turn my phone upside down and shake it a few times like I'm mixing drinks. Then I plug it in for exactly 10 seconds (no more, no less) and rip the pack open, removing my charger while the rip animation happens.

It's tricky, but when you get it, you'll always get at least 1 extremely rare card in the pack. And in the case of promo boosters, it means you'll always get the highest tier. I've also seen online that throwing your phone under a moving truck during the opening animation works too, but I don't own a truck and rarely see them.
