40ks gameplay was always kinda meh
What it was though was Glue for people to hang around and talk about the other parts of the hobby regardless of how shitty or stupid they are
MTG? The lore and community that used to be is dead. Hype? WOTC expects you to be hyped not for the next set tabout to be released that's already been fully revealed but for the set after and the set after that.
I have a lot of issues with GW and 40k but seeing the date of magic makes me realize things could be far worse
