It is true that games are not art, they are games, but that doesn't mean games can't be artistic. If you have a beautiful chessboard crafted by a talented artist is that not art because of it's proximity to the game of chess? Similarly if a game has a beautiful art style you could call it "art" because there is art within the game. However the gameplay mechanics are not art, that is a game, and games have existed as long as art has. It is not an insult to say games are not art because it isn't its function. Just like saying cars are not art. However if somebody calls the Cobra 427 a piece of art you don't say "no cars are not art they are cars" like an autist. I don't know why people have this inane argument daily.
