The powercreep is too severe for them to ever balance the game for the story. They need to make it doable for people just starting the game, and only going through the story. They also completely gave up on any difficulty in story fights after the aventurine boss, which they very quickly nerfed into nothing. There must have been some nasty data on the fail rate on that boss.
I killed him in like a minute with my no eidolon Saber team, I don't even know what he did.
