I think about the girl from Emerald who says "If you ever let someone else make a decision for you, you'll regret it regardless of the outcome."
I also think about the scout girl who wants to beat the whole Battle Frontier with just her Skitty. I beat the Elite 4 to get invited. She must have quite a Skitty to get this far. I like to think she'll one day succeed. I may be a champion, but I'm a fan of her.
I also think of the Karate guy who learned all his karate from the internet. I wonder if he's any good. I also learn a bit of fighting skills and techniques from reading and the internet.
