There's an entire network based on lightning that is recreating decentralized versions of all major apps and social media. There's a decentralized Twitter, a decentralized YouTube, a decentralized Pinterest, a decentralized Facebook.
All of this uses lightning. When you "like" a post or picture or video, it sends satoshis to the content creator. The fee structure of lightning channels means that sending micro Bitcoin transactions is basically free, and instant.
You haven't been invited to this network because you have no Bitcoin.
But it exists and it's blowing up
