If you're just starting which I assume you are: By the time you are competent enough that you can actually get a job where someone may pity hire you (a good 2-5 years depending how dedicated you are or if you get a bachelors), the job market will be better. Right now is the best time to start actually. The reason being the insane amount of doomerism happening and people giving up and going to work in other industries because 1000 job applications don't pay the bills but selling insurance does.
Bonus reason it's a good idea is because companies are retarded and short-sighted. Seniors WILL be retiring, burning out, etc and suddenly the surge for more Juniors is going to happen again. Because it turns out that Seniors don't grow on fucking trees.
Everyone talking about outsourcing to third world countries is correct, but they also fail to mention this has been the case since the 90s. AI isn't going to replace jobs, it will literally just create more work for you to do. At first because it's shitty, and then because it's so good that your boss can give you triple the tasks and keep paying you the same amount. What I suggest is if you think you are interested in coding, you should give it a try with no expectation of a career in the entire first 2 years. By then you'll know if you actually want to do it or not and you can decide to proceed or not.
Alternatively, become a hobby programmer and make things for fun. Programming really will change your life, even if you don't get paid for it. You will approach everything in life differently. Just start, anon. Pick your lane you think you're interested in and hit the gas pedal. You will be overwhelmed, but you take babysteps every day and one day you find yourself wondering how you were ever confused at what an array is.
