Never, even if the Shitch 2 flops and Nintendo drops to their knees and goes "w-we'll take anything as long as it has a proper rating" again, no one will believe them, and why should they after everything they've done in the past couple years? No one is ever going to risk making something like Senran Kagura or LoveR again as long as the Damocles Sword of platforms being able to pull the rug and arbitrarily deny access hangs over their heads.

So if/when the Switch 2 shits the bed, are they gonna try the same trick again thinking it'll work twice? Are publishers dumb enough to fall for it a second time? Or is this the end of anyone being willing to give them the time of day like it was after Sony took all their third-party support in the 90s?

You could say similar for Nintendo. Just reinforces the idea that there needs to be some sort of stopgap measure when they wanna do this, because somehow they ALL get this idea to throw anything "problematic" under the bus for muh brand the moment they get even a little bit successful. Gaming distribution is too centralized for this shit, these publishers are basically trapped in an endless cycle of stepping on rakes at this point.

Because Nintendo themselves did a total 180 with their practices. They built up a lot of goodwill with the early-mid Switch era making up for the mediocre Wii U era. Now they're pissing it all away again, even harder than before.

Furukawa was the one that explicitly told shareholders Nintendo does not censor third-party games. But I wonder now if he was just paraphrasing Kimishima at the time. This was very shortly after Kimishima stepped down and he took the reigns. Someone else said that for his first few years, he was just following the remaining roadmap laid by Iwata and Kimishima.
