>For example there was supposedly an "Inal the Great" that united the Circassians. Problem? No written sources from the time confirm such a figure ever existing.
There is a weird issue on any Circassian related wikipedia page that the so called sources are actually just made up or folk tales. Take our figure from the Circassian genocide. Grigory Zass, the page used to mention that he had a daughter who was kidnapped and raised as a Circassian as a child, obviously we have an issue that he never had a daughter and this just stayed their for years. Of course the wiki page for him is still largely based off of folk tales and other made up bullshit from Circassian nationalist websites

This is a bit of a meme. The justification for the Homeric standard being from his time is circular and not actually with any evidence. A 'standard' Homer is only really found about 150BC. Greece had many different traditions of Homer and it emerged across all of Greece, even before writing Homer was popular everywhere. Only in the 5-4th centuries did the Homeric corpus become just the Iliad and Odyssey. Homer was very likely compiled independently across all of Greece with their own traditions.
