Reading impressions it seems Kojima made the game even easier and dumbed it down for the people who hated the first game.

Instead of making the game for the fans of the original vision, who saw potential in that gameplay loop, he made the game for haters who made a meme out of it.

So much potential wasted, so many opportunities to really flesh out the "man vs treacherous terrain/harsh weather" gameplay all down the drain.
