>>713594607Issue is, I don't think she actually tackles the issue with Kojima's writing if at all. She's vagueposting a lot and not being concrete about the issues in his writing.
Don't get me wrong, I think his writing went downhill from MGS3 and onwards. But it's hard to dispute that his Snatcher, Policenauts, MGS1-2 work was pretty good, and even 3 was decent. I would hardly call that fanfic level either. Putting it down as worse than network TV writers' room? MGS2 era Kojima? Absolutely not. It's not peak cinema, but it's not worse than what the average TV network churns out, if not slightly better at least than that.
Post-MGS3? Yeah there's more of an argument made there because Kojima has lost the plot and is being pretentious and being weird for the sake of being weird rather than to deliver an actually cohesive plot and message. It's the exact inverse of how he was like before 3, all the fame got into his head and reaching his 50s-60s probably gave him a midlife crisis that changed the way he wrote. He's not a traditional creative, which is the core issue, and he can't exactly handle how to write properly, he now thinks in abstracts rather than concrete writing ideas. Not helping matters is that Project ITOH was kinda carrying him a lot post-MGS3 before ITOH died.
The irony is, the MGS1 localizer had a LOT more actual concrete criticisms regarding Kojima's writing than whatever the fuck Agness is saying here.
