They took an atmospheric mansion that actually looked like it was designed to be lived in and turned it into a generic haunted house with shit lighting and chains hanging from the ceiling, completely losing the Overlook Hotel atmosphere that inspired the original.

Other than the character models, I disagree. The monsters in particular got heavily beat with the ugly stick.
