Yes.
Learn to dodge zombies and to avoid them. Get comfortable running around with one single weapon + ammo (or maybe just one weapon).

>Is it worth to keep trying?
not really. RE1 is shit and the DX is a better game beyond the obviously improved graphics. RE is an old enough series to appreciate that it's been mostly just dog shit for retards and OG RE2 is still the only 10/10 game in the series.

I bought REmake last night and played it for the first time (lights off at night with noise canceling headphones) and it honestly is pretty scary if you let yourself get immersed. I was kinda surprised how well it holds up.
I never played any old school REs (except 3 as a kid), only RE4 and up (and 2 remake).
Pretty kino game. Excited to play more tonight.

Is there a mod to have the map show leftover items or what type of door (sword/shield) like in RE2make?

the problem with this webm is that the leadup to that zombie appearing is extremely predictable and makes it blindingly obvious that he's gonna show up, it's not scary
RE1 always had this problem
>walk into room with a big closet that's shaking
>"GEE WIZ I WONDER IF THERE'S A ZOMBIE THERE"
>walk in front of closet to examine the desk that is totally not there to get your back to the closet for the scare
>unceremoniously lame cutscene of the zombie popping out
>game gives you like 5 seconds to react because it thinks you just shat your pants from the surprise and need to recover
this game is shit

RE2 with the zombies appearing suddenly out of the dark while it's playing the door opening animation is a stroke of genius.
Ever since the first one you encounter in RE1 players are ever so slightly tensed because the scare coming like that would be obvious. Only once they are halfway through RE2 does the trick pay off.

The original is much better for scare factor IMO. It has a more realistic presentation which makes the scares more effective despite the lower fidelity.

So do I. It's a shame we never got a more serious take on a series like Dead Rising.
The tone of that game is too silly to be scary, but the idea of being in a place meant for joy and fun like a big mall or Disneyland but juxtapositioned with death and carnage isn't tapped into enough.

you can burn a zombie's body to prevent it from becoming a crimsonhead
further, once you kill a crimsonhead they stay down

crimsonheads are on a timer; on easy it'll be at least an hour before a zombie you kill comes back

i think the mansion looks good in both versions whats wrong with it? probably one of the few times where a remaster visually doesnt make everything ugly. still has soul in it. the second picture with the statue is kino. maybe they could have toned down how grey it was and found a compromise somewhere beween the two but aesthetically i think the game visually has a good art design and preserves a lot of the tone of the game.

The problem with the remake is all the extra shit they threw in like the extra puzzles and shit. i dont think i will play it a second time for years because the puzzles were just way too frequent to the point it felt like they were only padding out the length of the game.

>whats wrong with it?
They took an atmospheric mansion that actually looked like it was designed to be lived in and turned it into a generic haunted house with shit lighting and chains hanging from the ceiling, completely losing the Overlook Hotel atmosphere that inspired the original.
>probably one of the few times where a remaster visually doesnt make everything ugly.
Other than the character models, I disagree. The monsters in particular got heavily beat with the ugly stick.
>still has soul
LMAO!

I literally don't give DEmake1 a pass for that reason dumbass.
>(aka grew up with it)
/v/ is not one person dumbass. Most of this game's supporters are retarded normal niggers who lack critical thinking ability, and can't perceive the downgrades and only assume something being newer = better, and/or follow the larger memetic narrative about it being "one of the only good remakes" without actually stopping to assess whether that's true or not.

I posted this the other day and I'm gonna post it again. All you have to do is bait zombies and run past them, and if you're playing with modern controls it's even easier.
This is a clip with tank controls showing you how simple it is.

i played this game for the first time like 4 years ago and i got stuck in that area for like a half hour because there was a door in one of those hallways i was running past and somehow didnt see. im pretty sure thats what it was but maybe it was a key. idk.

I think fixed camera perspective and prerendered backgrounds have soul but i think they need to raise the contrast on certain items so you can run past it without knowing it more than once or twice.

you think its that big of a change huh? ive hardly played any of the original i wouldnt know the difference. i had real mixed opinions on the xb1 version of this i played. i thought the game started really strong but after like 2 hours or 3, the novelty started to wear off and the constant puzzles every 10 minutes really pissed me off. it really felt like it was just to pad out the length of the game. i also played as chris and didnt realize i had less item spaces. so the lack of inventory, constant puzzles, and me not seeing shit in the game really made me feel like it was a 5/10. but it could have been an easy 8/10 if they just removed some of the puzzles. on replay i do not want to have to do so much of that shit again.
