why is this "horror" game so damn bright?
There are plenty of horror movies that take place mostly during daylight like Dawn of the Dead, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, The Hills Have Eyes, The Wicker Man, Midsommar, Wrong Turn, Wolf Creek, Tremors and so on and so forth.
Originally the old Silent Hill devs were planning on making the 5th entry take place entirely during daylight as well. There is absolutely no rule that says horror HAS to take place during night or that it HAS to be in the pitch black darkness, that's purely a personal preference and what the majority of horror related movies and games might do.
Also I mean the original Resident Evil PSX games have bright colors everywhere and no truly dark areas to speak of unlike the GameCube games and beyond. Original Alone in the Dark too and Doom and System Shock.
