Old previously-largely-forgotten interview with Mikami Shinji surfaced recently. Here's the gist of it:

"Raccoon City" of BIOHAZARD franchise is actually Allentown, Pennsylvania. Straight up.

Mikami personally visited US in 1991 and happened to be passing through the cities of Allentown and Fogelsville on his trip to Pittsburgh/Pennsylvania State proper. He also stopped at "Yocco's Hot Dogs" cafe at some point, while he was in Fogelsville. The diner place from the very beginning of Claire Redfield's FMV OP sequence in vanilla RE 2 was directly inspired by Yocco's in Fogelsville, it's interior was copied almost verbatim and some of the exterior elements were as well.

To be precise, "Raccoon City" as Shinji Mikami himself envisioned it, is an amalgamated combination of Allentown (80%), Pittsburgh (16%) and Fogelsville (4%). If anything, the "neighboring village" of Stoneville (unrelated to real Stoneville in North Carolina) could be technically actually inspired by Fogelsville as well (since it's a suburb of Allentown and Stoneville is "a suburb of Raccoon").

Allentown's population density, size of it's area, topology and elevation of premises, infrastructure and nature, all nearly completely match Raccoon city's classical maps, it's area's visual depictions in supplementary art, and it's descriptions in related media (such as books/novels/manuals/guides/etc). Allentown IS "Raccoon City", albeit being slightly juiced on steroids since Mikami wanted some Umbrella labs/factories + parks and a zoo in it (the zoo was later implemented in Outbreak games).

Allentown's area is 46.64 sq km (about ~18 sq miles), while Raccoon's area is roughly 72 sq km (~28 square miles). Population of Allentown is averaging at ~140k in the city itself, while Raccoon's estimated city populace during the "pre-outbreak" period was around 300~320k (accounting for permanently settled citizens and not including Stoneville's metrics).

The skyline of Pittsburgh is literally "Raccoon City" how Mikami himself initially envisioned it in his head in the 90's, directly. Some of the topology and infrastructure also matched his personal vision of it.

Allentown, Fogelsville, and Pittsburgh, are all in Pennsylvania.
Raccoon City is also in Pennsylvania by official established canon lore and available info.

That's basically that, anons. Raccoon City is Allentown. Not Toronto, not Denver, not any of that other mumbojumbo the Cucknadian faggots and other retards been "guesstimating" and arguing about for the last couple decades.

Now we know the factual truth. It is factually Allentown with a bit of Pittsburgh mixed in and Fogelsville sprinkled on top of that baked cake. And all of it is Pennsylvania.

Rebecca Chambers literally has same exact mannerisms and behavioral quirks/patterns as the one Rebecca Jorden was doing in Aliens, and the entire fucking last "Umbrella lab" section of first game is just a straight up copy-pasta shot-for-shot of Alien's and Aliens' ending sequence, all while 3D models of "flamethrowers" in first two games are ill-notorious for being just direct traces of flamethrowers from Alien and Aliens. Meanwhile, nearly 60% of all "puzzle" and "trap" rooms in the first game are just direct copy-pasta of "Murder By Death" (such as the memetic "falling ceiling room", "poison gas room", "animal head room", and even the "diner room").

Visually and physically, though, Rebecca Chambers was directly modeled on Yuki Uchida. A fuckton of video game devs and other creators were "utilizing" Uchida's looks and body physique/proportions for their shit, back in the 90's.

Basically every first-and-a-half short hair tomboy you ever saw in a 90's or early 2000's nip game, anime, or manga, was inspired or directly based on Yuki Uchida. The entire Mansion section of the first game, or the first half of the game proper, is literally just video game mishmash of Murder By Death (go watch it, you'll get a very eerie feeling right away) and Sweet Home (for obvious reasons), both visually and gameplay mechanics-wise. It's Allentown with a bit of Pittsburgh, rather. Allentown has rivers, but they're obviously not as big as Pittsburgh's (which is a literal island of a city, even more so than Saint Petersburg). Raccoon city has couple rivers as well (even going through the city directly, in several places, as shown in Nemesis/Last Escape and Outbreaks). Stoneville, the "suburb" village "neighboring" Raccoon, has a pretty decent river too, maybe even a lake, judging by how it was described.
