Reddit's upvote model fosters extremes meaning with enough time every "bad" thing becomes the worst thing in existence and must be destroyed and every "good" thing must be worshipped.
For example, give a subreddit about puppies enough time and you will be criticized for not denouncing the "bad" thing before discussing the newly released dog treats.
