2023 ARCANUM SEQUEL DISCOVERED - CANCELED MOBILE GAME
>2001 RPG by Tim Cain and Fallout 1 crew "Arcanum: of Steamworks and Magic Obscura" has had several failed sequels and failed sequel pitches by Obsidian/Inxile to Activision over the years, IP assumed dead and locked up by Activision/Blizzard forever
>Last year an artist named Joel Carlson uploaded a portfolio of art claiming an Arcanum mobile game "for ages 10+" was being developed in the 2020's https://joelcarlson.artstation.com/projects/QzQNkl

>Looks like a cartoony discworld game, has teenage protagonists, whimsical reimagining of Arcanum cleansed of all the M-rated elements like race-science, phrenology, victorian era social issues like misogyny and classism/racism. Protagonists are a teen wizard boy and teen inventor girl who are mentored by your now-elderly companion from Arcanum 1, Virgil, who is now a generic gandalf figure
>the big bad from the first game who absolutely 100% died forever, Kerghan the necromancer turned death-god, is retconned from a dark cloaked ominous figure into a cartoony evil slavering shadow demon with a scythe, who has somehow returned just like Disney Palpatine to end all life on arcanum, again
>entire game cancelled by the grace of god somehow
>probably because it's a 20 year old IP exclusively remembered by cRPG grognards and would just get nonstop hate and no new fans, if it was mobile game it would have MTX out the ass and not enough pull in the age of Baldurs Gate 3

So a 2020's sequel to "Arcanum: of Steamworks and Magic Obscura" was leaked... and it was planned to be a crappy mobile game aimed at teenagers. Thankfully it was cancelled.
