If you think Maelle's ending isn't canon then you are an absolute retard.
She is the MAIN CHARACTER, Act 3 is called Maelle. Verso had his spotlight in Act 2 but he is a side character now.
This is Maelle's story, she beat the villain Verso, and got what she wanted.
You must learn to deal with it Versocucks, deal with the grief that your guy is a side character :)
