We don't know the final specs and we don't know the price of the contracts Sony is making with AMD and other partners for the PS6. We can't yet know for sure how much the PS6 will cost to make and so we can't know know for sure how much it can be sold for. The only detailed speculation I've seen of a potential breakdown of the parts that would go into a PS6 is MLiD's guess.

I personally really like this for how clean it is and the range of prices in the guess. There's the cost of the console and how Playstation could price it, either for a low, medium or high margin. But high-price consoles do not historically sell well. It would be a bad idea for Sony to sell the Playstation 6 at a really high price.

Just based on vibes, I think most interested early adopters of the PS6 would be happy with a $600 PS6. It would induce a lot of demand for it. At $700, I think you're risking a stalled launch that would require price cuts 6 to 12 months after launch. I think keeping demand high and having mild to moderate shortages for 3-6 months would be the better option. So, maybe $650 if I were to take a guess right now.

Of course, China just imposed export restrictions on REE the other day and Trump said he's going to retaliate with 100% tariffs. The geopolitical situation may change these prices significantly by 2027. But, the PS6 will have been in development after experiencing Covid, lockdowns, inflation, and both Trump 1.0 and 2.0. If Playstation is smart, it'll have factored these geopolitical challenges into the PS6's price.

Is anyone else besides MLiD saying this? The idea makes sense, but is it just MLiD's speculation or are other leakers also talking about a cheaper, entry level PS6 S/Handheld that's supposed to convert PS4 users?
