I work is R&D and we needed a few custom metal parts. They were pretty complex with tight tolerances, so your everyday sweatshop is not gonna cut it.
We ordered half a set from a EU manufacturer and another from China. The chinese made everything in 2 days + 2 days of shipping. Everything exactly to spec (we were surprised). The EU one took more than a week just to prepare an order, 2 weeks to make the parts and asked for 70% more than the chinese did. It is insane how far behind we are. The China will eat us whole.
