Shit, something like that happened to my uncle. He was a really cool guy when I was a young kid, then he crashed his motorcycle, and was in a coma for over a year. When he finally woke up, left the hospital, and came home he was a different person. Completely erratic, huge memory issues, and would alternate between these periods of high energy and starting dozens of projects to low energy, angry, and spending all his time in his room sulking. Yep. The rule of thumb if I remember right is you don't want to interrupt an REM cycle, and they take about an hour and a half. So even if you just need a power nap you want to aim for like an hour and a half or three hours. There used to be a site where you'd just input like "I have to wake up at this hour" and it'd give you the ideal times to fall asleep to, though IIRC it's now a premium ad shit piece

Regardless it means you want to aim generally for 6h, 7h30, or 9h, but also ideally allow yourself to wake up naturally, which means your body might make it 7h or 8h or something not that strict in general. Waking up naturally is ideal because you're not interrupting REM- the body's just getting the sleep it needs and then being done.

Oversleeping, ironically tends to make you tired and sleepier. If you sleep 11h, 15h, etc (unless you were really tired and your body really needed it), you're going to feel close to as if you'd just slept 3h or so
