I pretend it's because of the troons and other shit but in reality the novelty of speedrunning has just completely worn off due to more than a decade of watching these marathons.

When I first watched this, up till like 2016 I thought tricks and glitches were the coolest shit ever, but now even when I see a new cool trick I don't really feel anything. Back then GDQ made me want to play games for weeks on end after. I'm just older.

I feel if someone younger/new watches this now it'll likely still have the same effect it had on me back then.

It was worse this year because its a brand new scheduling team this year. Mostly the prize time: Sent, Flygone etc. are now the schedulers. I think it's pretty obvious what happened this year. The team is mostly made up of the Frame Fatales and Black in a Flash teams, so they just got all their friends on this year, and Sent is a massive pushover so he just agreed to everything. This is why a lot of the runs had "I ran this on Black in a Flash" and "You may remember this run from Frame Fatales" And once the main staff realized like Spike and Kung Fu they got their own runs on too. Then Rubie, Melo and Adef the theatre kids strongarmed Sent into adding more skits and checkpoints so they can do more acting improv.
